What's new at Cottanera

Cottanera’s new look can be found on the web. Just before the opening of Vinitaly 2012, the company from Castiglione di Sicilia (Ct) has decided to launch its new interactive website, puttogether by IM°MEDIA.  Wine fans can start out on a splendid virtual tour through the unique black terroir of Mt. Etna, follow the news and events on Facebook, where in the very first few days more than a thousand contacts were made, or even comment on Twitter.

The new label for Barbazzale Bianco (Inzolia) will also be presented at the International Wine Exhibition.  New colours and graphics are perfectly in line with the company’s new promotion campaign.

The new Cottanera just gets more and more interesting.  It boasts a single, 100 hectare-allotment, with 65 hectares of vines, vineyards and winery in Castiglione di Sicilia (Ct). Here all phases of production, from harvesting to bottling, take place.  Over the years, the company has been meeting the needs and following consumer and market trends, ranking amongst the most important names in Italian and international enology.

Cottanera’s new website, full of splendid photos, is lively and attractive, quite exhaustive on its vineyards, wines and
winery.  This is how it has been conceived by its young owners, who want to share the fascinating beauty of this
unique land with lovers of wine and nature, a land where product excellence is in perfect harmony with traditions.

The company is family-run and stands out for its hospitality.  A quick look at the menu coming from mamma Maddalena confirms this.  She welcomes visitors and guests with traditional recipes from the area of Etna, all deliciously served with the new labels, two white and seven red.

The website has a particular section dedicated to women in the vineyards, a deeply rooted tradition in the corner of Sicily, which Cottanera has always respected and honoured.

The harvesters are a close-knit team of 25 women, including mothers and daughters.  They possess all the tenacity of the volcano, a true passion for the land and a particular care for the vineyard, where all work is scrupulously carried out by hand.  It is to them that Cottanera entrust all the delicate jobs, such as defoliation, thinning, and pruning, up to the harvesting itself.

We hope to see you in Verona at Padiglione 2 stand C 41, from Sunday 25 to Wednesday 28 March.
